About the event

Rachel Hoyle is the Programs Coordinator at the Shirley-Eustis House Association in Roxbury, MA. She plans events such as community festivals, academic lectures, concerts, and more. She also gives daily tours of the estate and works to deepen community partnerships with other nonprofits and educational institutions in Roxbury and Dorchester.

Born and raised in North Carolina, Rachel is topically interested in the similarities and differences between histories of the north and south, especially the history of class and enslavement. She graduated from Boston College with a B.A. in History, and the University of Massachusetts Boston with a Masters in Public History. While at the Shirley-Eustis House, she has developed a virtual exhibit on the individuals enslaved by the Shirley family, and implemented tours and programming to enable visitors to confront and examine the impacts of enslavement and the slave trade on our shared history and the current racial and social inequalities in American society.
